Here we grow!

It's exciting times in the garden! We have been harvesting many pounds of lettuce and kale, but now we're really starting to have fun...

In the last week, we picked our first cucumber. This cucumber was a little champion that gives us hope of more to come.

Next, we pulled beets and turnip out of the ground. Both of these crops Co-op Credit participants grew from seed, many for the first time. It is incredibly rewarding to see one tiny, seemingly insignificant speck turn into something so beautiful (that you helped make!).

Now we wait a little longer with the knowledge that things are indeed growing.
And in the meantime, did you know you can eat beet and turnip greens?

The beginning of our planting took place on 24 05 14 just a little behind our Hope Garden partners

and three and a half weeks later things are flourishing. Both in plant and human growth. Plant growth

because the heavens have blessed us with a beautiful combination of rain and sunshine. Human growth

in the development of new cultivated friendships and the bonding that has developed in this short

period of time. Being a urban exposed person all my life it already has become therapeutic to experience

various forms enjoyment. The interaction with nature in our small garden has injected the passion to

continue to grow at memorable pace, of one day at a time.

Welcome to the PARC Learning Garden Blog

Welcome to the PARC Gardening Blog! The purpose of this blog is for PARC Ambassadors to document all the awesome ways in which they are making the Parkdale neighborhood beautiful, and what they are learning about diet and nutrition in the process.

We're looking forward to seeing what the summer brings! Herbs, spices and vegetables.
